hear hear! i love your comments, i feel the exact same way! my theology professor has what he refers to as "essential" and "non-essential" theology. i feel the American church has been somewhat stalled lately over controversy. i try to examine the things in me that need to be released so that i can run my race with fire...i have enough oil for my lamp, and am fighting the inevitable sleep...peace to you! i enjoy your blog, i've just started one. i will add you to my blogroll, i look forward to reading and corresponding on your blog and mine.

Michael,

I like your blog, great concept and the cross-centered focus is wonderful. You're really taking Keilar to task here. You might enjoy some of the coverage of paradox controversies on my site:

http://theoparadox.blogspot.com/search/label/Controversy

or perhaps this defense of irreconcilable paradox:

http://theoparadox.blogspot.com/2009/04/10-affirmations-of-theoparadox.html

I've tangled with the likes of Sean Gerety and the famous Turretin Fan over these concepts. TF was really a gracious opponent, he disagreed without becoming malicious. But some folks get completely bent out of shape in their hatred of Van Til and all things unresolvably paradoxical!

Like you, I'm much more interested in talking about the Gospel - but when it is seen through the lens of God's infinite, unsearchable wisdom, the cross becomes even more glorious.

Blessings,
Derek Ashton

Marian, Jesus is not returning soon. All of those "signs" were to occur before "this" generation, which was "THAT" generation that Jesus was speaking to. This all took place, just as the Lord promised in 70 AD.

SEPARATION OF RAUNCH AND STATE

(It's still legal - and always God-honoring - to air messages like the following. See Ezekiel 3:18-19. In light of government backing of raunchy behavior (such offenders were even executed in early America!), maybe the separation we really need is the "separation of raunch and state"!)

In Luke 17 in the New Testament, Jesus said that one of the big "signs" that will happen shortly before His return to earth as Judge will be a repeat of the "days of Lot" (see Genesis 19 for details). So gays are actually helping to fulfill this same worldwide "sign" (and making the Bible even more believable!) and thus hurrying up the return of the Judge! They are accomplishing what many preachers haven't accomplished! Gays couldn't have accomplished this by just coming out of closets into bedrooms. Instead, they invented new architecture - you know, closets opening on to Main Streets where little kids would be able to watch naked men having sex with each other at festivals in places like San Francisco (where their underground saint - San Andreas - may soon get a big jolt out of what's going on over his head!). Thanks, gays, for figuring out how to bring back our resurrected Saviour even quicker!

[If you would care to learn about the depraved human "pigpen" that regularly occurs in Nancy Pelosi's district in California, Google "Zombietime" and click on "Up Your Alley Fair" in the left column. And to think - horrors - that she is only two levels away from being President!]

thanks for the info on tithing, i never thought of that. I agree that the creation will be set free, I am postmillennial, and so i believe that, as the old Advent hymn, Joy to the World, goes:

No more let sins and sorrows grow,
Nor thorns infest the ground;
He comes to make His blessings flow
Far as the curse is found,
Far as the curse is found,
Far as, far as, the curse is found.

Thanks bro.

Hello!
it's true! Jesus Christ took our sin and the curse (that came because of the sin of man), on Him and gave us His Righteousness.
Now, i personaly don't agree that the course of the earth it's been taking care of yet...
I made a little study about tithing and the Word shows that everything that comes from the earth containd the taint of the curse on it, therefor, God stablished tithing as a principle to purify (make holy), what we get from the earth and by doing this, we, the Church, will prosper to be able to share the gospel os Christ.(Lev. 27:30; Ro. 11:16)
You and i (born again beleivers), have been made holy (1 Cor. 1:30), but the Word says that the creation "will" be set free from the course of the sin of man (Adam) Ro. 8:19-22
Anyway, i just wanted to share this with you and your visitors and thanks for this posting!

"Be perfect, therefore, as your Heavenly Father is perfect." - Jesus

I don't think you can get any more clear than that. God is perfect and He requires/inspires perfection. I think the problem is this; when we think of a 'perfectionist', we think of a person as being a 'control freak'. God is not a 'control freak'! He has allowed us to have our own free will and yes... we have definitely made things a bit messy. But somehow God still manages to exact His good, pleasing, and 'perfect' will. (Romans 12:2)

So I disagree with Dougy boy. I believe scripture makes it clear that God is One who is all about perfection.
